Dear Lodge 21 Members,
As we approach the upcoming December Lodge meeting, it is imperative to acknowledge the dedicated efforts of our Executive Board Members over the past four years. Their commitment to overseeing FOP business and advocating for fellow officers has been nothing short of commendable. We want to highlight some of the myriad of tasks they've undertaken.
List of Duties:
Meetings with higher-ups
Exposing the NDOC in the media
Maintaining the website and social media platforms
Managing a national networking platform
Overseeing all lodge expenses and payments
Communicating Lodge business to the membership
Budgeting for future expenses
Building the uniform program
Coordinating Lodge business with National FOP
Lobbying politicians for legislative bills
Handling phone and email requests from officers
Serving as the go-to representatives for member complaints
Providing advice and addressing concerns
Amplifying the officers' voice
Building FOP Lodge 21
Representing officers in investigations and hearings
Achieving success in the Election vs. AFSCME
Participating in Collective Bargaining strategy meetings
Compiling input from members
Negotiating the CBA
Advocating for recent substantial raises
Working towards putting an end to officer abuse
And the list goes on…
These responsibilities are being shouldered by our Board Members, many of whom are mandated and work up to 16 hours a day already. They are often sacrificing personal time with their families to conduct Lodge business. Some have been dedicated to these tasks for years, even before the official formation of Lodge 21. The vote on the following motions was held over, in order to give all members a chance to review.
Pending Motions from the November Lodge meeting:
For Active Duty Employed Board Members: A proposal for a monthly stipend of $1000 per executive board member, including the VP, 2nd VP, SGT at Arms, and Trustee Chairperson, and for the Treasurer to receive a monthly stipend of $1500, effective 11/12/2023 if passed.
For Non-Active Duty Employed Board Members: A proposal for a monthly stipend equal to a Step 10 SC/O for the President and a Step 3 C/O for the Secretary, effective 11/12/2023 if passed.
Additionally, a committee will be established to review these stipends semi-annually to ensure the financial stability of the Lodge.
You guys are worth every penny!! Thanks for all you do. God bless you..
