Mandate was approved

Brothers and Sisters I am disgusted with the result today. I am very disappointed to tell you that the Board of Health was presented with more than 90% of the comments today in opposition to the mandate. They didn't listen to us. We have a tough road ahead and I do not envy the decisions that you will be faced with. FOP members you will have legal backing when and if you are faced with an adverse disciplinary action. To all others who are not covered by our legal defense benefit, we will attempt to help in any way we can. Be safe and take care of each other.

Some officers are planning to let the department fire them so they can collect unemployment but last night in a conversation with several veteran officers, it was discovered that you don't collect unemployment if they fire you for cause, meaning if you get fired for insubordination, you don't get to collect unemployment. If you're telling officers not to quit and let the department fire you, you might be doing more harm than good. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I agree time is something we don’t have. Also this will make or breaks our lodge most the officers who are marking a stand on this are our members. If we loose this or don’t take any action we will loose members.

If your personal situation forces you to have to get the shot and stay with the job, I have one suggestion: Make the state pay. You sprain a pinky toe? Fill out a C-1. Get a papercut? Fill out a C-1. Bruise your knee in a use of force incident? Fill out a C-1. Go to concentra, go to physical therapy, go see specialists, whatever. Never let this place off the hook for anything anymore. Does your unit have broken a broken chair? Notify OSHA. Something dangerous in your unit or around your workspace? Call OSHA. Make sure it is federal OSHA people, not the state people who will cover for the state. Do not give an inch. Read the…

I really don’t think they are gunna care about a couple minutes of overtime. If this is able to go through, from what I hear a lot of officers are planning on leaving causing way more overtime then late relief. We need to come together to stop this. It doesn’t even matter where you stand on the vaccine issue, this is wrong. And they arnt forcing it on all state employees at this time, they are using us as the guinea pigs. If we don’t push back who knows what they will try next.
