Holiday overtime

It has been confirmed today that as we have been telling the supervisors, you get holiday premium compensation for all hours worked in addition to overtime compensation. If you are experiencing this problem with this at your facility, let FOP know and we will get this fixed. Shout out to Lt. Mckeehan for calling the LRU to get confirmation today after he and I had a conversation recently.

When did this go into effect? For example I work 1800-0600 Sunday into Monday and was told the 6 hours from midnight to 0600 did not count towards holiday pay since my shift started Sunday.

Yes but right now it doesn’t matter, it’s the same amount of pay. After July 1st it will be more money for PHPRM.

How about annual on a holiday? My facility refuses to take your annual and forces you to "wash" your PDOH & Annual. Before I could have them take my leave and receive PDOH. Now they won't take my annual, but they sure are quick to take my holiday pay.

You should be allowed to utilize your leave and take the pay. I’ll have to check with one of my contacts, I believe there is a grievance on this.

Finally, I grieved this issue about 5 years or so ago, went all the way to EMC and lost. Worked overtime on a holiday (12 hours) they told me I get the higher pay amount which is the overtime and they gave me 8 hours PDOH even though I worked overtime on the holiday. Crazy how they did me. I am glad we have a union now to help us clarify things.

Just for clarification if you work a double on a holiday you get premium pay for both shifts on-top of overtime pay for the over time worked? Because we were always told it was considered “double dipping“.

That’s the problem with having a contract that the union doesn’t defend. FOP doesn’t operate that way. A few discussions and emails, things get corrected.
