Is it only HDSP that are making changes to to what officers are permitted to bring into the institution, or are there changes being made to all institutions? Has anyone seen a memo or are we just going to be surprised by the change when it is enforced. There are a lot of rumors going like always, but is there any real information as to what is changing?

As far as I know, any food needs to be in a complete plastic clear container. That includes the lid. (At least when I worked at high desert that was the policy.) The back packs need to be truly clear meaning the clear can't have any sort of coloring tint or mesh. This is also pending if the facility is actually enforcing this policy.
Truly I don't understand the issue because you can open the tub/see directly in a clear tinted bag, if absolutely necessary. Plus down south at HDSP 3-4 S&E are the ones behind the counter searching everything while they wait on relief. Where as at other facilities you would pass your bag through the gatehouse Officer.
If they are worried about things coming in then they need to make a policy about duty belts and vest staying at the facility. This includes any tools we use flash lights, glove bags etc. They would need to ensure each officer has a locker to proved the adequate security of such items. If an officer chooses to bring in a new tool than it needs to be search including the battery compartment if it has one.
